The grand Pongal attraction ‘Kavalan’ is all set to steal hearts. The much awaited film by Vijay is finalized to make this Pongal sweeter than usual.

‘Kavalan’ is a remake of the super hit Malayalam film ‘Bodyguard’. It is about a body guard and the beautiful daughter of a rich man falling in love without knowing to each other and later separate without wanting to. What happened to their love and after is the story. The first half is expected to be a hilarious entertainer while the story tales a serious turn in the second half and the climax will be a shocker.

It is the 51st film of Vijay. Asin, Mithra Kurian and Raj Kiran are major actors in the film. Vadivelu is there for comedy and Roja returns playing the wife of Raj Kiran. Director Siddique, who gave one of the biggest hits of Vijay, ‘Friends’ is the director of ‘Kavalan’ also.

This is Tamil Ravanan’s story. Prithviraj is an upright pole officer. He loves the classical dance Aishwarya Rai and gets married. After marriage, he has been transferred to a different place. He settles with his wife there.

But there is no law and order there. The area is a tribal area. The headman Vikram is everything there. No one respects law and order. So Prithviraj feels that he can bring back law and order only if he finishes of Vikram. So he goes into the jungles in search of him.

The struggle which takes between Aishwarya Rai, Vikram and Prithviraj in the jungles is the story.

Though Manirathnam said that this is not a naxalites story, there is a talk that this film is about the naxalites leader Kobad Ghandy.

While shooting in Hoganekkal, Abhishek Bachchan had jumped from a height of 90 feet into the water. He had jumped in spite of Aishwarya Rai and Manirathnam’s objections. The Insurance company had also warned that they will not pay any compensation if anything adverse happens.

The climax fighting scene was shot in a bridge. Since the bridge was a set, this fighting scene in Tamil and Hindi should be shot quickly. Vikram finished the fighting scenes as Veera In Tamil and as Dev in Hindi film within one hour, sincethe bridge will not withstand.
